Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced test automation engineer to design, build, and maintain automated testing for HW/SW integration of the MK1 Lunar Lander in the Vehicle Test Bed (VTB) and SIL. The role emphasizes reusable test cases, CI integration, data analysis, and rapid fault isolation.

You will work on on-site, hands-on tasks in Renton, WA, collaborating with a small, expert team to ensure safe, reliable spaceflight hardware and software integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related technical degree.
• 4+ years in test automation, software development, or HW/SW integration for complex avionics or embedded systems.
• Proficiency in Python and scripting for test automation and data analysis.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop test environments, real-time systems, or data acquisition systems.
• Familiarity with avionics interfaces and protocols (Ethernet, serial, CAN, MIL-STD-1553).
• Strong debugging and configuration management skills.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks for HW/SW integration testing in VTB/HIL and SIL.
• Develop and maintain hardware-in-the-loop interfaces and data acquisition paths.
• Automate test execution, data collection, and post-test data reduction for multiple vehicle configurations.
• Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines and develop invariants to catch regressions.
• Collaborate with engineers to translate test plans into reusable test cases and overrides.
• Support VTB/HIL infrastructure bring-up, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
