Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Shift Lead to supervise back-end production personnel on B-Shift at our Arlington, WA site. You will own the post-cast finishing steps, guiding welders, grinders, machinists, and finishers to deliver high-quality engine components on time.

You will lead a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, and mentor early-career staff while upholding safety and lean manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of management/supervisory experience.
• 4+ years in manufacturing involving welding, grinding, machining or metal finishing.
• Demonstrated experience building a high-performing team.
• Demonstrated experience using KPIs to drive performance improvement.
• Strong communication skills.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Self-motivation and prioritization abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise back-end production personnel (welding, grinding, machining, finishing) on B-Shift at Blue Castings site in Arlington, WA.
• Establish workstation assignments, train staff, manage overtime, arrange coverage for absences.
• Maintain shop schedule status to ensure on-time delivery.
• Provide first-level escalation support on HR matters (employee relations, timecards, PTO).
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cycle and setup times.
• Maintain calibration program for shop measuring equipment and ensure timely calibration.
• Implement and maintain 5S for lean, clean, safe environment.
• Ensure following work instructions, quality requirements and processes.
• Provide ongoing training and develop cross-training matrix for coverage depth.
• Coach and mentor; conduct performance reviews.
• Partner with upstream casting to ensure seamless part flow into finishing.
