Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced Shift Leader to oversee aerospace fabrication operations on the Merritt Island, FL production floor. You will lead technicians across machining, wiring, and assembly, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence while driving continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to remove barriers and optimize processes, developing a high‑performing team dedicated to mission readiness and high‑precision

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or related field.
2+ years leading production teams or shift operations.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and specs.
Working knowledge of aerospace fabrication processes.
Experience with precision measurement equipment (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
Ability to coordinate across Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning and Supply Chain.
US citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a team of Technicians in fabrication and processing.
Promote a safety‑first culture and drive operational excellence across shifts.
Execute daily production plan balancing safety, quality, delivery and efficiency.
Conduct shift startup meetings and communicate priorities to maintain schedule.
Ensure work aligns with drawings, instructions, specs and standard work.
Remove bottlenecks through cross‑functional coordination with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production Control.
Provide technical guidance for structural assembly, drilling, fixturing, alignment, and installation.
Utilize tooling and measurement devices; calibrate and maintain equipment.
Drive First Pass Yield and reduce defects via disciplined problem solving.
Lead troubleshooting and escalate risks as needed.
Develop technician capability via coaching and cross‑training.
Own shift metrics: safety, quality, delivery, cost, labor efficiency, and schedule adherence.
Champion Lean manufacturing, 5S, and standardized work.
Support new product introduction and production readiness initiatives.
Ensure accurate production reporting and clear cross‑functional communication.
Assist hiring, onboarding, performance management and career development.
