Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Kent, WA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement robust, cost-effective manufacturing processes for tanks and COPV hardware. You will collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to drive high-quality builds and continuous improvement across Blue Origin sites.

Responsibilities include hands-on production support, resolving discrepancies, root-cause analysis, and contributing to DFMA/PFMEA efforts to improve manufacturability and reduce costs. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or related area.
  • Knowledge of structural mechanics principles and FEA interpretation.
  • Familiarity with NDT methods (visual, PT, UT, RT, PAUT).
  • Experience with manufacturing, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Proficiency interpreting 2D/3D drawings and CAD models.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, hands-on support to the production team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Support assembly and installation, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as a liaison between design, test, operations, and manufacturing teams.
  • Lead troubleshooting and disposition of non-conforming weld-related issues (cracks, porosity, inclusions, undercut, incomplete penetration).
  • Interpret NDT/NDE results and support defect evaluation and resolution.
  • Translate complex drawings into precise work instructions for high-quality manufacturing.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing non-conformances.
  • Support DFMA and PFMEA to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Provide design-for-manufacturability feedback to engineering teams.
