Job summary

Astrion seeks a Material Control Specialist at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. You will manage day-to-day receipt, storage, and movement of NASA-owned flight inventories, ensuring accuracy and compliance with NASA standards.

This role requires onsite presence five days a week and successful background clearance. Responsibilities include tracking material specifications, quality records, and certification, while coordinating both domestic and international shipping for project

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of stockroom or inventory experience.
• Ability to obtain NASA certified Forklift operator license.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Proficient with inventory computer programs to update counts, generate reports, and respond to audits.
• Pass a federal background check and be onsite 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Keep track of and manage day to day receipt, issuance, storage, movement, and condition of all materials and equipment.
• Adhere to specified NASA standards, policies, specifications, and processes.
• Identify material specifications, quality records, limited life characteristics, preservation requirements and item certification records.
• Authorize receipt and issue of materials into and out of bonded stores.
• Maintain movement records for materials and ensure proper stocking and location accuracy.
• Manage stocking and cataloging of project inventories.
• Perform quality checks on stored inventory and discard items not meeting NASA standards.
• Identify, report, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Report differences between actual count and stock levels.
• Inspect and report damaged packages and containers to management.
