Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Electronics for Contested Space Group seeks a Technician (Level A) to prototype and develop RF and electronic hardware for space payloads and subsystems. You will fabricate, assemble, integrate, and test hardware from schematics, including wiring, soldering, and chassis assembly, in a fast-paced prototype environment.

Candidates should have a two-year technical school or equivalent experience, familiarity with DMMs and oscilloscopes, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Two-year technical school or equivalent or at least two years of relevant experience.
• Foundational electrical knowledge, including schematic interpretation and basic troubleshooting.
• Experience with soldering (through-hole and SMT) and PCB assembly preferred.
• Comfortable in a prototype development environment with low-volume fabrication.
• Familiarity with test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication, assembly, integration, and test of RF and electronic hardware from schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Mechanical and electrical assembly of printed circuit boards and assemblies.
• Assisting higher-level technicians in assembling chassis, cables, and PCB assemblies.
• Building wire harnessing of all configurations, including multi-conductor and RF cables.
• Soldering and de-soldering of through-hole and SMT components, boards, and terminals.
• Cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and terminating wire and connectors with precision.
• Operating technical equipment, including laboratory and field data collection, under scientific supervision.
