Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory seeks an electronics and test engineer to design, build, and test advanced electronics and RF systems for space payloads. You will contribute to power electronics and RF design, hardware development, integration and test, and data analysis in a multi-disciplinary team supporting national security programs.

Occasional travel and the ability to obtain a Top Secret DoD clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience with designing, building and testing complex electronic circuits at PCB or system level.
• Coursework or experience in RF, power electronics, embedded systems, or radar applications.
• Programming with C/C++, MATLAB or Python.
• Ability to obtain a US DoD security clearance; Top Secret desired.

Job description

The Electronics for Contested Space Group develops advanced electronic systems and technology for the protection of our Nation’s most important space capabilities. We design and develop state-of-the-art satellites and satellite payloads, novel concepts for resilient space architectures, and the Nation’s most sensitive radars, optics, and passive RF systems. The group also provides engineering rigor and experience to some of the most critical National Security programs through Laboratory-wide collaboration and acts in an advisory capacity to the U.S. Government. Recently we have prototyped electronic systems and effects, conducted hardware-in-the-loop testing of tactically relevant payloads with surrogate threat systems, developed RF subsystems for satellites, and analyzed spacecraft mission dynamics, environments, and resiliency.

Job Description

Group 94, Electronics for Contested Space, is seeking an electronics and test engineer to help design, build, and test advanced electronics and RF systems and space payloads. Activities may include power electronics and/or RF design, hardware development, integration and test, test automation, data analysis, and documentation (schematics, interconnects, board layout, performance, etc.). The successful candidate will work on multi-disciplinary teams executing advanced research and developing systems critical to National Security.

Occasional travel to support integration and test events, presentations to sponsors and the community, and other events may be required.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Familiarity with designing, building, and testing complex electronic circuits at both PCB and system levels
• Coursework, interest, and experience with at least one of the following areas:
  • Analog, digital, and mixed signal electronics,
  • RF design,
  • Power electronics design,
  • Embedded systems,
  • Radar applications,
  • Systems engineering,
  • Satellite subsystem development,
  • Test automation (Python, COSMOS, LabView, GPIB/SCPI, etc.).
• Familiarity with C/C++, MATLAB, Python, or other scientific programming languages.
• Ability to secure security clearance from the US Department of Defense
• Demonstrable ability to:
  • Work responsibly and safely in laboratory and assembly environments
  • Develop respectful, productive working relationships
  • Communicate clearly, precisely, and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Solve broad and/or complex technical or engineering problems
  • Learn and apply advanced technical knowledge quickly and proficiently
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance desired

Recent Graduate Hiring Range:$100,200-$120,000
Experienced Hiring Range: $100,200-$150,000
