Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX is seeking a Lab Manager to lead the electronics lab for space and defense systems. You will oversee assembly, rework, and test of complex boards, and manage lab resources, calibration, and safety compliance.

You will mentor technicians, develop test benches, and collaborate with engineers to bring products from concept to reality in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience as an electronics lab technician.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong circuit card assembly and rework with 0402 SMT components.
• Intricate hand rework of assemblies with fine-pitched components.
• Experience designing and building wire harnesses.
• Experience in lab management, including test benches, calibration, procurement, and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, rework, and test complex circuit boards in an engineering lab.
• Integrate and test boxes with power, RF, and Digital boards.
• Perform advanced rework to solve technical problems.
• Design, build, and test harnesses for space and defense systems.
• Manage the engineering lab, equipment calibration, and consumables.
• Collaborate closely with engineers in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentor junior technicians and engineers, sharing knowledge.
• Author and conduct lab training such as ESD and safety training.
