Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Electronics Lab Technician to join our team, developing leading-edge electronics for space and aerospace systems. You will assemble, rework, and test complex circuit boards and integrate them into boxes and systems alongside engineers in a startup-style environment.

The role demands hands-on expertise with high-frequency RF devices, FPGAs, and lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and rework tools.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience as an electronics lab technician.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Significant assembly and rework experience with sensitive SMT components, such as RF amplifiers or BGAs.
• Strong ability to perform intricate hand reworks, using fine-pitched wire and 0402 components.
• Experience with lab equipment for testing, such as high-speed oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads.
• Experience building wire harnesses.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills for working with a tight-knit team and documenting results.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, rework, and test complex circuit boards in an engineering lab environment.
• Integrate and test boxes made up of these boards, such as phased array boxes and advanced digital-to-RF processing units.
• Solve technical problems with advanced rework skills and electronics knowledge.
• Design, build, and test harnesses for space and airborne systems.
• Manage the engineering lab, working with engineers and other technicians to maintain lab processes, equipment calibration, and consumables.
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers and other technicians in a cooperative and fast-paced environment.
• Mentor more junior technicians and engineers, sharing your knowledge and skills with the team.
• Author and conduct lab trainings for engineers and technicians, such as ESD training and lab organization.
