Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Electromagnetics Effects Engineer for the Mission Payloads Division. This full-time, on-site role focuses on EMI/EMC testing and protection for spacecraft and launch vehicles, requiring a strong foundation in electromagnetics and RF engineering.

You will design and execute lab and field tests, analyze results, and travel to testing sites as needed. A 1–2 year industry background and a relevant degree are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or STEM related program.
  • 1–2 years of industry work experience.
  • Understanding of applied electromagnetics, microwave and RF engineering, antenna theory, and/or calculus-based electromagnetism.
  • Experience with testing, data analysis, or control of test equipment; test plans/reports; EMI/EMC testing to standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific and engineering support in EMI/EMC to Space Force, NRO, and civil space programs.
  • Design, build, and perform lab and field experiments to protect spacecraft and launch vehicles from EM environments.
  • Perform EMI/RF testing using signal generators, spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and antennas; develop test methods and analyze results.
  • Occasionally travel to launch ranges and factories for testing and troubleshooting.
  • Support evaluation and improvement of spacecraft and infrastructure electromagnetic design and performance.
  • Collaborate in a team focused on requirement development, design verification, launch operations, and anomaly investigation.
