Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern for Spring 2027 in El Segundo, CA. You will support hazard analyses and safety programs across engineering, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical operations, contributing to a safe, compliant workplace in a dynamic space startup.

The role provides hands-on experience with environmental compliance, safety systems, and emergency procedures while learning from aerospace professionals in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in occupational safety & health, environmental engineering/safety, or related field.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Job Hazard Analyses across engineering, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical operations.
• Drive safe handling of hazardous chemicals through HazCom and PPE programs.
• Guide departments on accumulation and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Maintain safety systems and equipment inspections (eyewashes, showers, extinguishers, alarms).
• Assist with site emergency action plans, drills, and CPR/AED training.
