Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks a Component Engineer in Rancho Bernardo, CA, reporting to the Component Engineering Manager. You will own component approval, BOM analysis, and work with vendors to implement design-for-manufacturing solutions.

Qualifications include a bachelor's or master's in engineering and 2+ years of experience; DoD security clearance at/above Secret is required. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with sourcing electrical, electronic and electromechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform part screening, material evaluation and review manufacturing processes for reliability and cost efficiency.
  • Source electrical, electronic and electromechanical components for products and subassemblies.
  • Find replacements for obsolete components and update designs.
  • Use BOM obsolescence analysis tools.
  • Support electrical and mechanical engineering activities and review engineering documentation.
