Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA, seeks an Avionics Systems Engineer II to lead the design, integration, and testing of avionics for the Winnebago Spaceship, ensuring readiness for launch and reentry. With 3+ years in avionics or related fields, this role requires Python programming and hands-on HITL experience, plus power/Data interface expertise, in an on-site setting at El Segundo.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and general test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project scopes and requirements, guiding designs from concept to prototype and production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults, develop mitigation plans, and support FDIR or workarounds when hardware isn't feasible.
• Conduct verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware, ensuring readiness for launch and mission objectives.
