Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks an experienced Avionics Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and testing of avionics for the Winnebago Spaceship. You will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure systems meet launch and reentry objectives, balancing power, telemetry, and mass constraints.

Responsibilities include developing electrical architectures, verifying hardware, and conducting HITL testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project scopes and guide designs from concept to prototype and full-scale production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults and risks, develop mitigation plans, and collaborate on FDIR or workarounds when hardware solutions are unfeasible.
• Conduct comprehensive verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware, ensuring readiness for launch and compliance with mission objectives.
• Participate in mission operations as an Avionics specialist or system operator, determine system health and corrective actions for reentry criteria.
• Oversee the integration of Winnebago avionics systems and act as the primary contact for integrated systems investigations.
• Design, build, and operate HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft on the ground for mission readiness.
• Develop avionics ground infrastructure and test racks, contributing to engineering best practices and test automation.
• Mentor and train new engineers to foster learning and continuous improvement.
