Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Avionics Systems Engineer II to oversee design, integration, and testing of avionics for the Winnebago Spaceship. The role focuses on launch readiness, system integration, and mission operations support.

Responsibilities include collaborating across teams, developing architectures, and ensuring compliance with mission objectives from space manufacturing to reentry testing. This position requires hands-on HITL and ground infrastructure work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python for development and debugging.
• Experience with power supplies, DAQ systems, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Define project scopes and initial requirements from concept to prototype and full-scale production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for potential faults and risks; create mitigation plans and support FDIR or workarounds when needed.
• Conduct verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware for launch readiness and mission objectives.
• Mentor and train new engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
