Job summary

Nextpower Inc in Fremont, California, seeks a Manager, Internal Control to lead the company’s SOX and internal controls across key business processes. You will manage a team of controls professionals and partner with Finance, IT, Operations and external auditors.

The role emphasizes risk assessment, control design/testing, remediation, and readiness, with a focus on continuous improvement in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years in accounting, external or internal audit, SOX, or internal controls.
• Experience managing employees, including coaching and performance development.
• Working knowledge of SOX 404, COSO, PCAOB standards, and U.S. GAAP.
• Ability to analyze complex information and communicate control requirements clearly.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for cross-functional work.
• Ability to manage multiple timelines and deliver against plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of internal controls professionals; set goals, assign work, review quality, and support development.
• Oversee SOX risk assessments, annual planning, scoping, and program maturity.
• Guide walkthroughs, tests of design and operating effectiveness; review documentation.
• Partner with process owners to identify gaps and design practical controls.
• Assess new projects for SOX impact and coordinate readiness actions.
• Maintain SOX documentation, narratives, flowcharts, and evidence of control performance.
• Coordinate with auditors and stakeholders; drive remediation and timely action.
