Job summary

Nextpower is seeking a Manager, Internal Control to lead the company’s SOX and internal controls work across assigned business processes. This role manages and develops a team of internal controls professionals while partnering with Finance, Accounting, IT, Operations, Legal, and external auditors.

The manager sets team priorities, oversees routine operating plans and costs, and guides risk assessments, control design and testing, remediation, and readiness efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in accounting, external or internal audit, SOX, or internal controls.
• Experience directly leading employees, including coaching and performance development.
• Working knowledge of SOX 404, COSO, PCAOB standards, and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience assessing business process risks, designing or evaluating controls, and remediation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of internal controls professionals.
• Plan and oversee SOX risk assessments, annual planning, and readiness activities.
• Guide testing of design and operating effectiveness; ensure documentation is accurate.
• Partner with process owners to identify gaps and design practical controls.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and communicate findings.
