Job summary

Valero invites students to join the SOX Compliance Internship at its San Antonio headquarters. You’ll gain practical audit experience applying accounting, IS, and audit concepts in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll support scoping and testing of internal controls, identify key risks, and perform data analysis using Excel, SAP, HANA, SQL, and PowerShell, with remediation follow-ups and teamwork with the engagement team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related field.
• Graduation dates of December 2027 through May 2029 required.
• Able to work 40 hours per week during the Summer.
• On-site at Valero San Antonio Headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scoping and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting framework.
• Identify key risks and related controls within business and IT processes; design test steps.
• Participate in client interviews to validate the implementation of SOX controls.
• Execute test steps to assess operational effectiveness of key controls and document results.
• Examine activities to determine compliance with policies and regulations.
• Collect and analyze data using Excel, SAP, HANA, SQL, PowerShell; provide root-cause analysis.
• Assist in preparing testing results and remediation follow-ups.
• Demonstrate teamwork with engagement team members.
