Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., is seeking an Associate General Counsel to support its Southwest Region from the Phoenix, AZ office. The role provides legal advice across commercial, education, and healthcare project portfolios, with front-end transactional work handled by other attorneys.

You will serve as the primary regional liaison on daily legal issues, lead complex disputes with outside counsel, and collaborate with risk, safety, finance, and operations to mitigate risk and protect

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Arizona.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as an attorney.
• Minimum of 5 years of litigation and claims management experience.
• Experience with construction law and design and construction agreements.
• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-attorney stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and diplomatic skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for regional leadership on day-to-day legal issues.
• Provide strategic, solutions-oriented legal advice for the region.
• Manage all litigation matters and coordinate outside counsel.
• Lead settlement negotiations and mediations.
• Maintain risk logs and collaborate with Risk, Safety, Finance, and Operations.
• Represent McCarthy with regulatory agencies.
