The Sous Chef is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities related to food preparation and cooking.

Where You'll Make an Impact
  • Develop and manage food costs according to budget.
  • Implement programs to reduce and control loss time injuries.
  • Manage and schedule staffing levels to maintain budgeted employment and coverage, ensuring a positive gaming experience at Maryland Live Casino.
  • Develop staff through training, interviewing, disciplinary counseling, and performance evaluations.
  • Cook, carve meat, control portions, and prepare new dishes, sauces, and garnishes.
  • Review kitchen activities, processes, and promotional ideas with the Executive Chef.
  • Monitor and adjust performance relative to local competition.
  • Meet with departmental directors and managers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills You'll Need to Succeed
  • Ability to analyze and interpret restaurant operational results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of sanitation laws, health regulations, and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to perform duties under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours due to task demands.

Qualifications

A Few Must Haves

  • Five to seven years of experience in restaurant management and supervision.
  • A 4-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Compliance with all state gaming regulations, including obtaining necessary licenses and health certificates.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures.
