Job summary

Flik Independent School Dining is hiring a full-time Sous Chef for Westminster School in Simsbury, CT. The position involves assisting the Executive Chef, coordinating cooks and food-service staff, and taking on responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Chef.

Local hours are full-time with weekends and a 40-hour week, subject to interview details. Ideal candidates will have prior kitchen experience, with the ability to follow recipes and maintain high food-safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience preferred.
• Must be able to follow recipes and production standards.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training and reviews as appropriate.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils and ensures cleanliness and safe handling.
• Monitors serving temperatures, portion control and food quality.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries and notes low stock to supervisor.
