Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed in Vallejo, CA is seeking a Sous Chef I to support the food program and culinary operations. You will help plan menus, oversee production, and ensure quality, freshness, and presentation in line with client guidelines and health regulations.

The role requires 5 years of culinary experience, including a year in management, and strong leadership abilities. Knowledge of MS Office is a plus, with ServSafe preferred. Medical and retirement benefits are available.

Qualifications

• 5 years of related culinary experience including at least 1 year in a management role.
• Experience in education, healthcare, or corporate dining settings is preferred.
• Knowledge of food cost controls, quality, sanitation, and presentation.
• Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
• Supervisory, leadership, training, and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with overall success of the food program and culinary operations.
• Plan menus and coordinate with culinary team on production.
• Roll out new culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams.
• Manage cost controls and monitor expenditures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
