The Sous Chef is responsible for the daily kitchen operations, providing professional leadership and direction to kitchen staff.

The responsibilities for this role include:

  1. Hiring and training Line Cooks and Dishwashers under the guidance of the Director of F&B.
  2. Placing food and supply orders.
  3. Completing and documenting safety audits and monthly in-service trainings.
  4. Ensuring correct plate presentation before dishes leave the kitchen.
  5. Managing kitchen labor and food costs, and monitoring the budget.
  6. Preparing high-quality food.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this position, you should have the following experiences, strengths, and skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college or culinary training preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must hold a Managers Food Handlers permit, which can be facilitated by Spectrum Retirement.
  • Experience in an office environment, answering phones, or customer service is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and professional, with the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for working with residents, family members, and team members.
