Overview

The Sous Chef position is responsible for helping Otterbein manage all daily operations, including the overall direction of kitchen staff. The position requires an individual who will carry out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

This is a Full-Time position from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, with every other weekend off.

Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Oversee kitchen staff activities and monitor food production and presentation.
  • Evaluate staff performance.
  • Train and assist staff with proper procedures and policies.
  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed.
  • Participate in menu development.
  • Manage cost control and budgeting.
  • Develop recipes.
  • Handle scheduling.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Apply creativity and latitude in your work.
  • Manage ordering and inventory.
  • Understand federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment maintenance and usage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel. Proven kitchen and staff management skills.
  • Education: A degree in Culinary Science or related certification is a plus.
  • Licensure: ServSafe certification required.
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years cooking experience in LTC or similar setting preferred.
