Job summary

The New School's Parsons Making Center seeks a Full-time Technician for Sound Film Resources to support a wide range of laboratories, studios, and equipment across the facility. The role interfaces with students and faculty daily, providing hands-on support for sound and filmmaking workflows.

The Technician will help manage inventory, perform maintenance, and create clear technical documentation while collaborating with Making Center staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant experience in the industry.
• Knowledge of analog and digital filmmaking processes including lighting and sound recording.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Pro Tools, and motion capture/AR/VR practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily workings of the Making Center facilities and maintain a safe environment.
• Provide high level customer service to students and staff.
• Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of hardware/software in labs and studios.
• Create documentation and lead trainings for lab users.
