Job summary

The New School's Parsons Making Center seeks a Full-time Technician in Audio Production and Media Resources. This role supports sound studios, darkrooms, printing labs, and motion capture spaces, interfacing daily with students and faculty.

Based on campus, the technician will manage inventory, perform equipment maintenance, and learn AR/VR workflows within six months, reporting to the Assistant Director of Sound and Filmmaking Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant or professional experience in the industry.
• Flexible schedule – ability to work nights/weekends and with semester changes.
• Knowledge of analog and digital photographic and audio processes and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Making Center facilities and maintain a safe environment.
• Provide high-level customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hardware/software across studios.
• Assist with facility projects, shows, installations, and center-wide initiatives.
• Adapt to changes, meet deadlines, and anticipate facility needs.
• Maintain organized workspaces, track inventory, and support checkout center logistics.
• Learn Digital C printing and Motion Capture/AR/VR tools within 6 months.
