Job summary

Central Texas Food Bank in Austin, TX seeks a Sort Coordinator to load/unload food, lead volunteers, and manage warehouse operations for distribution to partner agencies across 21 counties. This role requires day and rotating evening shifts, Monday through Saturday, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, enter data in CERES, and maintain inventory while ensuring compliance with safety standards and program requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of food service, manufacturing, warehouse, or food service.
• Experience or willing to learn within a timeline in warehousing and demonstrated ability to operate forklifts, pallets jacks, and other equipment.
• Ability to work in various climate conditions (warehouse, freezer, and cooler).
• Demonstrates good judgment and discretion.
• Experience providing superior customer service with a focus on relationship management in a service-delivery setting.

Responsibilities

• Handle material from warehouse to Sort area using forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment safely.
• Evaluate donated products according to food safety standards.
• Orient and supervise volunteers on projects with clear instructions.
• Oversee volunteers in sorting, boxing, and preparing food for distribution.
• Maintain logs and inventory using CERES or handheld scanners.
• Keep Sort areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
• Assist in reports, data gathering, and achieving goals.
