Job summary

Central Texas Food Bank in Austin is hiring a Sort Coordinator to lead volunteers, load/unload, and maintain the Sort room. You’ll operate forklifts and pallet jacks, manage inventories, and use CERES and CANVA for data entry and reporting.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1+ years in warehousing or food service, and the ability to work Monday through Saturday, day and evening shifts. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of food service, manufacturing, warehouse, or food service
• Experience or willingness to learn warehousing and operate forklifts, pallets jacks, and other equipment
• Ability to work in warehouse, freezer, and cooler
• Demonstrates good judgment and discretion
• Experience providing superior customer service with focus on relationship management
• Ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences
• Flexibility to work Monday-Saturday, day and evening shifts
• Strong ethical character and confidentiality
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
• Experience with food distribution programs preferred
• Experience with CRM systems preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva usage in a warehouse context

Responsibilities

• Handle material from warehouse to Sort area, operate forklift/jack truck
• Evaluate donated products per food safety standards
• Instruct and maintain volunteers on projects, communicating effectively
• Oversee volunteers sorting and packing for distribution with energy
• Work a flexible schedule, Monday-Saturday, day and evening shifts
• Monitor supplies for Sort operations (boxes, tape, soaps, disinfectants, etc.)
• Keep Sort areas clean and organized; log weights/sources in inventory system
• Enter and maintain data in CERES or handheld scanners
• Organize and label perishable foods requiring special handling
• Assist other programs and services operations as needed
• Maintain inventory communications for CSFP, Home Delivery, Backpack
• Assist in reports, data gathering, goals and deadlines
• Support CTFB’s mission and culture
• Perform additional duties including language support as needed
