Job summary

Ascension Health's Ascension Medical Group, Indianapolis, IN, seeks a skilled Medical Sonographer in Maternal Medicine to perform ultrasound exams, document findings in PACS, and monitor equipment safety. The role emphasizes patient-centered care in a busy clinical setting with standard weekday hours.

The candidate will hold ARDMS credentials in OB/GYN and fetal echocardiography with BLS certification, and meet education requirements including a diploma or higher.

  • ARDMS Obstetrics/Gynecology credential within 6 months
  • ARDMS Sonography credential within 2 years
  • ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography credentials within 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Deliver diagnostic ultrasound images for routine and complex studies to assist physicians.
  • Capture and document clinical data in PACS for accurate patient history and care continuity.
  • Perform regular quality control and safety checks on imaging equipment to ensure peak performance.
  • Identify significant anatomical structures or pathologies and adapt technique to ensure patient comfort and accurate results.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images by performing both routine and complex studies to help physicians make accurate, timely patient diagnoses.
  • Capture and document clear clinical data within PACS, ensuring meticulous records that safeguard patient history and streamline the continuity of care.
  • Manage and optimize imaging equipment through regular quality control and safety checks to guarantee peak performance and patient safety during every procedure.
  • Advocate for patient well-being by recognizing significant anatomical structures, pathologies, or technical limitations, and adapting your approach to ensure comfort and accuracy.
What minimum requirements you’ll need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Sonographer specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • One or more of the following required:
  • Cardiac Sonographer specializing in Fetal Echocardiography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 36 Months (3 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Medical Sonographer specializing in Fetal Echocardiography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 36 Months (3 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree required.
