Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Medical Sonographer in Indianapolis, IN for the Maternal Medicine department. This full-time role involves performing obstetric ultrasound studies, ensuring high-quality imaging and accurate PACS documentation.

You will maintain equipment QC and prioritise patient comfort and safety. Minimum qualifications include ARDMS OB/GYN and Fetal Echocardiography credentials with timely certifications (BLS within 1 month).

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
  • ARDMS OB/GYN credentialed within 6 months of hire date.
  • ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography credentialed within 24 months of hire date.
  • Cardiac Sonography specialization in Fetal Echocardiography credentialed within 36 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images by performing both routine and complex studies.
  • Capture and document clear clinical data within PACS for accurate patient history and continuity of care.
  • Manage and optimize imaging equipment via regular quality control and safety checks.
  • Advocate for patient well-being by recognizing anatomical structures, pathologies, or technical limitations and adapting approach.

Education

High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree
ARDMS OB/GYN credentialed
ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography credentialed
Cardiac Sonography credentialed (ARDMS)

  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images by performing both routine and complex studies to help physicians make accurate, timely patient diagnoses.
  • Capture and document clear clinical data within PACS, ensuring meticulous records that safeguard patient history and streamline the continuity of care.
  • Manage and optimize imaging equipment through regular quality control and safety checks to guarantee peak performance and patient safety during every procedure.
  • Advocate for patient well-being by recognizing significant anatomical structures, pathologies, or technical limitations, and adapting your approach to ensure comfort and accuracy.
What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Sonographer specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Cardiac Sonographer specializing in Fetal Echocardiography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 36 Months (3 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Medical Sonographer specializing in Fetal Echocardiography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 36 Months (3 years) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree required.
