Job summary

Alton Memorial Hospital, a member of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a Full-time Sonographer for weekend option (nights). The position runs Friday to Sunday, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with on-call duties and holiday rotation. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible applicants.

The ultrasound department supports abdominal, small parts, and obstetrical imaging and aims to provide quality care close to home within our five-county service area.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have an Associate degree or trade school equivalent.
• RDMS or equivalent certification is required.
• RDCS or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasound equipment and ensures proper documentation.
• Performs imaging studies (abdominal, small parts, obstetrical) and assists with needle procedures as needed.
• May perform studies independently, on-call duties may apply.

Overview

Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. The ultrasound department is located within the Radiology department of the hospital. The ultrasound department prides itself on being able to offer quality care Close to Home.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose The Registered Diagnostic Sonographer performs ultrasound imaging, including but not limited to abdominal, small parts, and obstetrical, to adult and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders, and assist with needle procedures (i.e., biopsies, drainages, needle placements, etc.). May also perform vascular imaging

Responsibilities

• Ensures proper function and readiness of all equipment.
• Performs ultrasound imaging examinations and ensures proper documentation of procedures.
• Performs studies independently, may perform studies on-call, portable exams, and at other sites as required by work area.
