BJC HealthCare seeks a Full-time Diagnostic Sonographer for Alton Memorial Hospital with a Weekend Option. The role schedules 37.5 hours weekly, nights from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Friday through Sunday, with holiday on-call duties.

The ultrasound department sits in Radiology and emphasizes close-to-home patient care. Qualified applicants may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The position supports abdominal, small parts and obstetric imaging for adult and pediatric patients in a welcoming hospital

Qualifications

• Associate or trade school diploma or equivalent.
• RDMS or equivalent certification required.

Overview

Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more.

The ultrasound department is located within the Radiology department of the hospital. The ultrasound department prides itself on being able to offer quality care Close to Home.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Registered Diagnostic Sonographer performs ultrasound imaging, including but not limited to abdominal, small parts, and obstetrical, to adult and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders, and assist with needle procedures (i.e., biopsies, drainages, needle placements, etc.). May also perform vascular imaging

Responsibilities

• Ensures proper function and readiness of all equipment.
• Performs ultrasound imaging examinations and ensures proper documentation of procedures.
• Performs studies independently, may perform studies on-call, portable exams, and at other sites as required by work area.
