Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to obtain quality ultrasound images and support radiology workflows.

The role requires CPR within 30 days, Vocational School graduate, and RDMS or ARRRT-R credentials. Responsibilities include equipment management, PACS/Meditech use, and assisting radiology staff in patient care.

Qualifications

  • Verify referring physician orders and perform necessary PACS tasks.
  • Renders patient care professionally and maintains room cleanliness.
  • Assist radiology staff with procedures and medication administration.

Hourly Wage Estimate: $32.95 - $49.42 / hour

Job Summary And Qualifications
  • Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients. Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required.
  • Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information. Utilize independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.
  • Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepares examination rooms for ultrasound procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.
  • Assist the radiology nurse or the radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types of care to the patient.
  • Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. technical quality, anatomical positioning, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.
  • Assists Facility System Administrator and Diagnostic Supervisor with PACS clean up. ie: unarchived images, unspecifieds, etc.
  • Completes and maintains educational requirements.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedures.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Vocational School Graduate
  • (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or (ARRT-R) Radiography
