Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin’s Pickle Research Campus, Applied Research Laboratories, is seeking a Technical Writing Assistant to support the development of technical documents for high-frequency sonar systems used by the U.S. Navy.

The role involves preparing guides, manuals, and related materials across HTML, PDF, and Word formats. You will collaborate with project leads, edit and publish documentation, participate in team IT activities, and contribute multimedia content, ensuring

Qualifications

• HS/GED and three years of clerical experience including some in technical writing.
• Accuracy in spelling, punctuation, grammar and proofreading.
• Knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Office, MadCap Flare, or GitLab.
• Strong organizational skills and focus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Willingness to learn software applications and tools as necessary.
• Able to work under pressure and accept supervision.
• Ability to work independently as well as with peers and management.

Responsibilities

• Supports project leads by performing the duties of a support writer on multiple projects, including assisting with writing and maintaining technical user guides, O&M manuals, and other documents in HTML, PDF, and Word formats; maintaining assigned GitLab issues.
