Job summary

Kentik is seeking a Solutions Engineer on the West Coast to support our growing sales team and empower customers to deploy the Kentik observability platform. You will demonstrate capabilities, address technical questions, and partner with customers from initial engagement through deployment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in tech sales or solution engineering, strong networking knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers and executives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in a high tech sales/solutions engineering or systems/network engineering role.
• Must be located on the U.S. West Coast.
• Ability to conduct technical conversations with staff-level engineers and executives.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience managing Cisco/Juniper routers and your own Linux servers.
• Strong understanding of network and application protocols (DNS, BGP, Netflow, TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP) and their use for infrastructure design and operations.
• Programming proficiency in a scripting language.
• Understanding of DDoS attacks and basic mitigation methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical sales process: demos, PoCs, onboarding, and feature requests.
• Respond to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs.
• Help marketing expand product collateral to close opportunities.
• Channel customer requirements to product management.
• Coordinate post-sales checks with Customer Success and align with product roadmap.
• Work with account teams to meet booking targets.
• Attend trade shows, conferences, and meetups.
• Travel 30%+, including onsite meetings.
