Gusto is hiring for a highly technical, customer-facing role bridging engineering, solution architecture, and client delivery. You will own technical discovery, scope complex payroll/tax/compliance opportunities end to end, and build production-ready agents with multi-agent workflows.

Competenze

• 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, AI Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Solutions Architect).
• Experience shipping production systems in client-facing, regulated environments such as payroll/tax/compliance.
• Strong ability to gather requirements and scope complex opportunities for Sales, Product, and Engineering.

• Scope & qualify early for ambiguous Enterprise opportunities and own scoping after sales qualification.
• Define the problem with requirements for Sales, Product, and Engineering alignment.
• Build a working proof-of-concept when needed to demonstrate feasibility.
• Translate deployments into a business case supporting a subscription.
• Own the build: embed with clients and write the code for production-ready solutions.
• Diagnose data issues and jurisdiction mapping to unblock production.
• Bridge gaps between technical teams and business stakeholders as needs evolve.
• Deliver build handoffs and runbooks for Client Success.
• Feed feedback into product/go-to-market strategies and identify infra gaps.
• Create implementation playbooks and reusable deployment patterns.
