Job summary

Hiscox USA in Boston/Atlanta seeks a Solution Architect to design and govern end‑to‑end technology solutions across underwriting, policy administration, billing, and claims within the Traded/Broker business. You will partner with business leaders, product owners, and engineering teams, translating complex requirements into scalable, secure architectures.

The role requires deep technical expertise, insurance domain knowledge, and strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in solution, systems, or enterprise architecture
• 5+ years experience in insurance technology environments
• Strong knowledge of P&C or Commercial insurance operations
• Experience with Core Insurance Platforms
• Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills; ability to engage, influence and motivate stakeholders at all levels
• Experienced in an Agile software development environment
• Strong software engineering or lead developer experience – the ability to take that experience up a level to the Solution Architecture space
• Track record of managing the architecture of multiple change projects/programs in a complex environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Be a go-to resource for other solution architects and technical architects that are looking for assistance with solving complex architecture issues
• Review other architects solutions and ensure those solutions align with program goals
• Motivated self-starter who can work autonomously and add value in a team
• Excellent interpersonal, organization and time management skills
• Must be cooperative, flexible and able to work well with others

Responsibilities

• Interact with a range of people, from highly technical software engineers to Senior Executive stakeholders
• Identify stakeholder needs to address major concerns on an ongoing basis
• Take ownership of architecture strategy/design for a complex program
• Convey architecture elements to technical and non-technical members
• Present options, risks, and recommendations clearly
• Document architectural artifacts such as As-Is, Transformation, and To-Be architectures
• Defend solutions before Architecture Review Board
• Ensure artifacts align with current and future implementations
• Collaborate with teams to support downstream integrations during platform evolution
• Engage business domain experts and translate domain language for concepts and recommendations
• Engage with technical teams to deliver solutions across technologies including Java and/or .NET
