Job summary

City of Jacksonville seeks a Solid Waste Weighmaster to manage weighing vehicles, determine disposal codes and rates, and process payments at the landfill scale. The role includes handling cash transactions, issuing receipts, and preparing daily deposits while delivering courteous customer service.

Work involves shift schedules including early mornings, evenings, Saturdays and holidays, with opportunities for paid holidays and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the techniques, methods, and procedures of solid waste disposal.
• Knowledge of cash handling practices and procedures.
• Ability to learn the laws, rules, regulations and procedures governing waste disposal and the receipt and processing of solid waste payments.
• Ability to receive and process payments.

Responsibilities

• Weighs vehicles entering the landfill using computerized scale systems.
• Determines appropriate material codes and rates.
• Accepts payment in cash, check or charge transactions; provide receipts for disposal charges.
• Issues change for cash transactions.
• Prepares daily shift balance report and deposit.
• Answers, or refers to others, customers' questions regarding waste disposal.
• Directs traffic at scale facility.
• Responds to telephone inquiries.
