Job summary

The City of Peoria, AZ is looking for a Solid Waste Division Coordinator who will leverage data to improve collection efficiency and route balance. The role involves training operators on the division’s in-truck technology and monitoring fleet performance.

You will analyze productivity metrics, develop process improvements, and present data-backed recommendations to the Public Works manager. The position requires a associate degree and 3+ years of data experience, plus GIS and solid waste

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience using Geographic Information System mapping software or working with automated vehicle locating systems.
• Requires a working knowledge of solid waste vehicles and equipment.
• An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

Salary Range: Min $70,398.03 - Mid $87,293.11 - Max $104,188.18

Department: Public Works

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Associate degree in any field or equivalent


• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in data collection, analysis and/or reporting.


• One (1) year of experience using Geographic Information System mapping software or working with automated vehicle locating systems.


• Requires a working knowledge of solid waste vehicles and equipment.


• An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

Physical Demands: Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting more than 50 pounds.

Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements

• Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.

PREFERRED/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION(s)

• Class B Commercial Driver’s License.


• Experience in a municipal or government setting including operational budgeting.


• Experience in solid waste or environmental services including operation of equipment.


• Significant experience in solid waste collection, routing, education, and enforcement.

Tell me more...... The City is searching for an energetic, self-driven person to join the Solid Waste Division. This position will have direct contact with City staff across all departments and divisions, as well as residents, schools, and other municipalities and businesses. The purpose of this position is to support the mission of the Solid Waste Division using technology and experience-based techniques for analyzing data, problem solving, and discovery. The coordinator uses computer-assisted route and fleet management tools to achieve maximum efficiency and balance to collection routes. A large responsibility of this job function is to closely train operators to use the division’s in-truck technology and monitor their effectiveness. This position is also responsible for the analysis and development of productivity measurements to simplify and/or improve processes, offering data-backed suggestions to the manager.
