Job summary

Snohomish County Public Works is seeking a Solid Waste Maintenance Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solid waste facilities and equipment across seven county sites. The role emphasizes hands-on welding, carpentry, plumbing, and hydraulic/mechanical systems with opportunities to advance after training.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience operating a variety of equipment in building maintenance or industrial mechanical work.
• Familiarity with welding and cutting; certification or training a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints/drawings; carpentry and plumbing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, service and maintain basic hydraulic and mechanical systems on solid waste equipment.
• Fabricate and repair metal structures using welding equipment and torches.
• Fabrication of steel parts, wood, or concrete components and structures.
• Perform building maintenance tasks including carpentry and plumbing work.
• Operate heavy equipment (e.g., backhoes, loaders, forklifts) and coordinate with team.
