Position Description
This posting will be used to fill a Full Time, Permanent, Represented, Safety Sensitive, Solid Waste Mechanic position in the Department of Public Works.
This is advanced level skilled work in the maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, and related gasoline and diesel powered equipment to efficiently diagnose and make proper repairs on solid waste management system vehicles and heavy equipment.

NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK

Work involves responsibility for the performance of highly skilled work in the maintenance and mechanical repairs of heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, and gasoline/diesel-powered equipment used at solid waste management facilities and for residential collection services. Work includes serving as lead solid waste mechanic, performing heavy maintenance and repairs on equipment such as final drive seals, engine and transmission repairs, complete undercarriage replacement and rehabilitation, and heavy-duty truck repairs.
