Job summary

Snohomish County Public Works is seeking a Solid Waste Maintenance Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solid waste equipment and facilities across seven sites. The role emphasizes safety and problem solving with access to tools, vehicles, and protective gear.

The opportunity includes welding certification through the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) and career advancement within the division.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience operating a variety of equipment or hand/power tools in building maintenance or industrial mechanical work.
• Knowledge of welding and cutting with steel; familiarity with plumbing, carpentry and basic metal fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, service and maintain hydraulic and mechanical systems on solid waste equipment.
• Fabricate and repair metal structures using welding equipment and torches.
• Perform carpentry tasks and repair plumbing fixtures and lines.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and assist with general maintenance duties.
• Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards.
