Job summary

Snohomish County Public Works is seeking a Solid Waste Maintenance Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair gas, water, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems across seven facilities. The role includes welding, fabrication, carpentry, and plumbing tasks, with a Monday–Thursday night shift (3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.).

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience operating a variety of equipment or hand/power tools in building maintenance or industrial mechanical work.
• Six (6) months experience or familiarity with steel welding and cutting;
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders;
• Willingness to perform carpentry, plumbing, and fabrication tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair solid waste gas, water, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform complex maintenance and repair work independently or with others.
• Fabricate and repair metal parts using welding and cutting techniques.
• Perform general carpentry and plumbing work to support facilities.
