Job summary

Snohomish County is seeking motivated individuals for the Solid Waste Laborer I position, a training role designed to progress to Laborer II and III. You will deliver excellent customer service at transfer stations, perform manual tasks, and begin hands-on equipment certification under supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a Washington driver's license, and successful completion of safety and equipment certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Must pass job related tests.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid/CPR within six months.
• Certification on specified equipment within six months of employment.
• Post-offfer drug screen and criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Direct incoming and departing vehicles to unloading areas at a transfer station or landfill.
• Enforce safety rules and assist customers unloading vehicles as needed.
• Provide information and assistance on disposal and recycling procedures, fees, rules, policies and options.
• Perform routine maintenance such as sweeping and litter removal; housekeeping of work areas.
• Operate equipment including backhoe, yard goat, forklift and other listed equipment.
• Log and input transaction data into the scale automation system.
