Alachua County’s Collection Centers are seeking an employee to perform manual work in inspection and disposal of refuse, and to monitor recycling, household hazardous waste and the reuse area. Requires eighth grade completion or equivalent training/experience, plus pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background checks.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen & physical examination and successful completion of all applicable background checks pre-hire and ongoing are required.
This is responsible manual work in the inspection and disposal of refuse, and the monitoring of recycling, household hazardous waste and the reuse area at the County's Collection Centers.
An employee assigned to this classification ensures that refuse, recycling and household hazardous waste entering the collection centers as well as items left for the reuse area, are acceptable, sorted properly, and of an acceptable daily volume.
Work is performed without direct supervision but is under the direction of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.
This is an emergency essential classification. Upon declaration of a disaster and/or emergency, all employees in this classification are required to work.

The employee occasionally works in precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous materials and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
