Job summary

The AES Corporation in California is seeking a Solar Technician to join the Chowchilla operations team. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of utility-scale solar assets to ensure safe, reliable energy production.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with hands-on electrical and mechanical skills, familiar with inverters, trackers, and PM systems, and able to work with field service leads. Relocation is expected if not local.

Qualifications

• Experience with electrical systems and safety principles (LOTO).
• Hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of PV inverters/tracking equipment.
• Familiarity with SCADA and maintenance management systems.
• Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and procedures.
• Strong teamwork and communication across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on solar sites.
• Support switching and clearance processes and plant operations.
• Maintain equipment such as inverters, trackers, and DC/AC systems.
• Assist with vegetation management around sites.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
• Document work orders and procedures.
