Job summary

Geronimo Power is hiring a Solar Technician I for on-site operations at the Grant Solar facility near Canistota, SD. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on solar and electrical systems, troubleshoot components, and support safe plant operations under the Area Manager, Field Operations.

The role requires 2+ years in the power sector or relevant training, strong communication, and the ability to work in variable weather.

Qualifications

• Two+ years related experience or power industry training.
• Experience in solar facility operations preferred.
• Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management and reporting systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical prints.
• Ability to live within 60 miles or a 60-minute drive of the primary plant location.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company and project environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and procedures.
• Operate and maintain plant equipment, including high-voltage equipment, combiner systems, inverters, pad-mounted transformers, control panels, meteorological stations, tracker systems, and other balance-of-plant equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with equipment maintenance manuals and manufacturer requirements.
• Read schematics and technical prints to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical control systems and components.
• Repair or replace mechanical and electrical components, including PV modules, inverter components, string inverters, meteorological equipment, tracker components, and control panels.
• Support quality assessments and quality control reviews of work performed by third-party contractors.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain site tooling, inventory, spare parts, and other equipment needed for safe and efficient operations.
• Assist the Lead Solar Technician with warranty administration, claim tracking, and reconciliation of loaned parts.
• Assist with capital improvement projects, retrofits, and vegetation management as directed by the Area Manager.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, which may require short-notice work outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Travel occasionally to other plants or locations to support maintenance, troubleshooting, campaigns, training, or meetings.
• Complete all required training and perform other duties as assigned.
