Job summary

DTE Electric Company is hiring for Solar Tech - Multiple Levels (associate and staff) to operate and maintain utility-scale solar PV and energy storage systems in Michigan. You will monitor equipment, perform inspections, and implement improvements in collaboration with a team.

The role requires on-site work, hands-on electrical experience, and ability to follow procedures, with opportunities for advancement from associate to staff levels within a growing renewable portfolio.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with valid driver's license; 3 years electrical experience at 480VAC or 1000VDC or more, or 3 years in renewables operations/maintenance.
• Associate degree in Electrical or Electrical Engineering with 1 year electrical experience, or 1 year in renewables operations/maintenance.
• NABCEP certification or NABCEP-related training is a plus.
• DTE-sponsored onboarding/training 30–60 hours completed is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and corrective maintenance on solar assets and energy storage systems.
• Repair/replace PV modules, DC wiring, inverters, switchgear, batteries, and related components.
• Troubleshoot on-site and remotely using SCADA, Historians, and OEM platforms.
• Develop and follow standard operating procedures and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Support site performance improvements and warranty claim processes.
• Maintain equipment and tools; ensure safety and compliance on site.
