Job summary

North American Renewables is seeking an experienced Solar Quality Assurance Manager to lead QA, system commissioning, and O&M across a growing portfolio of commercial and utility-scale solar projects.

The role requires deep solar industry experience, strong leadership, and the ability to build relationships with customers, project teams, and field personnel while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance from construction through ongoing operations.

Qualifications

  • 4–8 years of quality assurance experience within the renewable energy industry.
  • Minimum 2 years supporting solar Operations & Maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of DAS, SCADA, inverter programming, and system monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and continuously improve the NAR Quality Assurance Program.
  • Develop project-specific Quality Plans that align with contract requirements and company standards.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Construction Control Documents (CCD), inspection plans, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Conduct quality inspections, audits, and documentation reviews.
  • Track and resolve quality non-conformance issues through corrective actions.
  • Ensure inspection, testing, and project documentation meet contractual requirements.
  • Lead commissioning plans and performance verification for solar projects.
  • Serve as primary technical liaison during commissioning with customers, utilities, and project teams.

This role serves as the technical leader responsible for ensuring projects meet the highest standards for quality, safety, performance, and compliance from construction through commissioning and ongoing operations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver with extensive solar experience, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, project teams, and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance

  • Administer and continuously improve the NAR Quality Assurance Program.
  • Develop project-specific Quality Plans that align with contract requirements and company standards.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Construction Control Documents (CCD), inspection plans, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Conduct quality inspections, audits, and documentation reviews.
  • Track and resolve quality non-conformance issues through corrective actions.
  • Ensure inspection, testing, and project documentation meet contractual requirements.

Commissioning & Performance Verification

  • Develop and execute commissioning plans for solar projects.
  • Lead system startup, capacity testing, and performance verification.
  • Configure and verify Data Acquisition Systems (DAS).
  • Develop Witness Test Procedures and Energization Plans.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison during commissioning with customers, utilities, and project teams.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support commissioning activities.

Operations & Maintenance

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned O&M customers.
  • Monitor system performance using analytics and benchmarking.
  • Identify performance issues and coordinate corrective maintenance.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Ensure contractual performance standards are achieved.

Technical Operations

  • Support Business Development with O&M and preventive maintenance opportunities.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams on startup procedures and energization plans.
  • Perform inverter programming, DAS startup, relay setting adjustments, and commissioning activities.
  • Support witness testing and startup as the lead technical representative.
  • Troubleshoot advanced electrical and communications issues.
  • Interface with manufacturers regarding technical support and warranty claims.
  • Stay current with solar technology, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Develop lessons learned and standardized processes to improve future projects.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Lead safety discussions and proactively identify project risks.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation supporting quality, maintenance, and compliance.
