Mortenson seeks a PV Engineer I to provide engineering support during the design phase for Customer Experience, Site Layout, Energy Modeling, and Electrical Design, ensuring a smooth transition to construction operations. Responsibilities span site layout, energy modeling, contract review, and equipment specification, with travel possibilities on diverse projects.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, attention to detail, and ongoing learning in solar technology and EPC processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering by summer 2027.
  • Willing to relocate for project assignments.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Preferred internship experience.
  • Demonstrate collaboration, communication, problem-solving skills and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate 2D/3D construction drawings.
  • Determine ground coverage ratios with varied racking technologies.
  • Incorporate site constraints and setbacks.
  • Survey site conditions and anticipate issues during construction.
  • Produce energy production models (PVSyst).
  • Apply PPA and interconnection requirements to design.
  • Align documents with performance testing standards.
  • Size conductors and read single-line diagrams.
  • Highlight differences between module types and derates.
  • Research solar technology developments and stay updated.
  • Develop relationships with field/electrical engineers and attend design meetings.
